این مسابقه از 26 ماه مه (6 خرداد) آغاز شده است. تاكنون زمان دقیقی از برگزاری رژه همجنسگرایان در رسانه های آذربایجان منتشر نشده است. این درحالی است كه برخی از رسانه ها خبر از لغو این رژه داده اند.

به گزارش بی بی سی، برای برگزاری این مراسم در منطقه 'كریستال هال' چندین هزار نفر تنها برای سهولت دسترسی به این منطقه بی خانمان شده اند. به گفته یكی از ساكنان این منطقه، یوروویژن تنها برای برخی جشن است، اما برای وی واقعه ای دردناك است.

درحالیكه دولت آذربایجان به تبلیغات گسترده یوروویژن در شبكه های تلویزیونی اقدام كرده است، بسیاری از روحانیان برجسته و شهروندان باكویی در قالب اعلامیه و راهپیمایی به برگزاری این مراسم اعتراض كرده اند.
